
The National Association of Black Bookstores (NAB²), founded on Juneteenth in 2025 as a 501(c)(3), is a membership-based organization dedicated to promoting literacy, amplifying Black voices and preserving Black culture.
Our Focus Areas
1. Elevate and advance the Black bookstore community by providing professional resources, visibility and a community of fellowship;
2. Increase the number of Black Americans in the bookstore / bookselling industry, by supporting their long-term financial sustainability;
3. Leverage economies of scale to benefit existing and future Black bookstores and booksellers;
4. Serve as a voice for Black bookstores and booksellers and advocate on their behalf; and
5. Cultivate understanding and education about the history and legacy of Black bookstores in the United States.
