national black bookstore day
APril 7th
National Black Bookstore Day (NBBD), observed annually on April 7, is a national observance established by the National Association of Black Bookstores (NAB²) to recognize, elevate, and drive support to Black-owned bookstores across the United States.
The day also honors the legacy of Georgia “Mother Rose” West, founder of Underground Books and a central figure in Black literary culture and community
NBBD is a coordinated, nationwide moment—bringing together bookstores, publishers, authors, partners, and readers to increase visibility, drive engagement, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of Black-owned bookstores.
