Black pack party

Black Pack Party was originally launched by Troy Johnson, Linda Duggins and other publishing professionals. The Black Pack Party paused for several years and we are proud to bring this powerful tradition back!

NAB2 black pack party: bottles & books

NAB² hosted activations in Pittsburgh during the ABA Winter Institute. The highlight was the return of the Black Pack Party: Bottles & Books, where more than 100 Black booksellers and publishing professionals gathered to celebrate the strength of our Black book ecosystem. NAB² proudly revived this powerful tradition, re-centering it as a space for connection and celebration.

The evening was intentionally rooted in community. The event was hosted in a Black-owned venue, featuring Black caterers and Black bartenders. Music icon Teddy Riley made a special appearance and performed. Guests received a copy of his memoir and a commemorative glass, with books provided by Young Dreamers Bookstore, a local Black-owned bookstore.

Attendees also participated in a Black classic book swap, sparking meaningful conversation as books changed hands across the room.

The Black Pack Party served as both a celebration and a reminder of what’s possible when we gather with intention.

LOOKING AHEAD
